Just a quick update and prayer request.
For those of you that may not have heard, our insurance denied coverage for the new drug (mylotarg). This is because the FDA approved that drug for patients with AML, Joe has MDS (or pre AML). The difference between the two is the percentage of blast cells. While most treating MDS recognize it as the same disease, people on the paper side do not.
Earlier today our doctor talked to one of our insurances medical directors to try to get the denial overturned. I don’t know anything about how the discussion went other than knowing the medical director is going to review our file and give us her determination in a couple days.
Please pray hard that we have favor in her eyes and that we can move ahead with the treatment plan quickly. Thank you all.
